Win free hashrate for 3 days

Every 3 days, one miner is drawn at random among everyone who mined at least 62 hours during the previous 72 hours on DirectPool, Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash. The hours do not have to be consecutive: you can have up to 10 hours of downtime in total. The winner gets free hashrate: real mining machines that mine for the winner's address until the next draw, and everything they earn goes to the winner. Mining is the entry: no sign-up, no cost.

What the winner gets

Real hashrate on your address, for free. For the 3 days after you win, the boost machines mine on your pool with your address, under the worker name "boost". You see them in the miner list next to your own machines. You do not install, pay or change anything.

How much: it is whatever is pointed at the boost at the time, so it changes. The live figure is in the dark panel at the top of this page.

What it earns you depends on the pool you won on:

  • Bitcoin pool and Bitcoin Cash shared pool: the boost shares count as yours, so your part of every block the pool finds grows. It is paid straight from the block, like your own shares.
  • Bitcoin Cash solo: the boost mines solo for you. If it finds a block, the whole reward goes to your address.

The usual 1% pool fee applies to blocks, as for any miner. Free hashrate raises your chances, but blocks still come down to luck, so a payout is not guaranteed.

How the boost works

  1. Mine on any DirectPool pool: Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash solo or the Bitcoin Cash shared pool. Mine at least 62 hours in total during the 72 hours before a draw and your address goes on the wheel. Up to 10 hours of downtime is allowed, in one break or several. Your hours do not have to be consecutive, and a stop does not reset your progress.
  2. Every 3 days at 21:00 UTC the list closes and one address is picked at random. Each address has the same chance, whatever its hashrate.
  3. From then until the next draw, the boost hashrate mines for the winner's address on the winner's pool, under the worker name "boost". It shows in the miner list like any other worker.
  4. At the next draw the boost moves to the new winner on its own.

Shares from the "boost" worker do not count as an entry, and the pool fee addresses cannot win. The first draw is on October 21, 2026. Until then, the boost mines for the pool's own address.

03

How the winner is picked

At the draw time the list of entrants is frozen and published, sorted by ticket (the first 16 characters of the SHA-256 of each address). The current Bitcoin block height is written down with it.

The hash of the next Bitcoin block decides. Read as a number and divided by the number of entrants, the remainder is the winning position. Nobody, DirectPool included, can know that hash before the block is mined, so nobody can pick the winner.

The proof of each draw shows here once the first draw is done.

04

Boost history

Every draw, its winner and what the boost mined for them during their turn. The hashrate is the average from the draw until the next winner took over, counted from accepted boost shares.

The first draw is on October 21, 2026 at 21:00 UTC.

05

Add your own hashrate to the boost

Any SHA-256 miner can mine for the current winner. Connect it to the boost address below: the pool relays it to the winner's pool and address, and moves it to the next winner after each draw. The miner reconnects for a second when that happens.

Changing the location only changes the address shown above. Copy it into your miner settings and restart or reconnect the miner. Miners already connected stay where they are. Every server mines the same pool, with the same payouts.

  • Username: anything, for example boost. It is replaced by the winner's address.
  • Password: x, or d= followed by a difficulty for rented hashrate (for example d=500000).

Hashrate sent here earns nothing for you: everything it finds goes to the winner.

Questions

Who can win the hashrate boost?
Any address that mined at least 62 hours in total on a DirectPool pool (Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash solo or Bitcoin Cash shared) during the 72 hours before the draw. One ticket per address. There is nothing to sign up for: mining is the entry.
Can my miner go offline?
Yes. Mine at least 62 of the 72 hours before each draw, allowing up to 10 hours of downtime in total. The hours do not have to be consecutive. Stops do not reset your progress: we add your mining time within that draw's 3-day window. On Bitcoin, a connected machine with a share in the last 2 days also counts, so tiny miners like a NerdMiner are not penalized for long gaps between shares.
How often is there a draw?
Every 3 days at 21:00 UTC. The first draw is on October 21, 2026.
What does the winner get?
Free hashrate mining for the winner's address, on the pool the winner mines on, until the next draw. On the Bitcoin pool and the Bitcoin Cash shared pool, that work counts toward the winner's PPLNS share. On the Bitcoin Cash solo pool, a block found by the boost pays the winner's address. How much hashrate depends on what is connected to the boost at the time; the live figure is on this page.
How do I know the draw is fair?
The list of entrants is frozen at the draw time, together with the current Bitcoin block height. The hash of the next Bitcoin block, which nobody can know in advance, then picks the winner: its number modulo the number of entrants is the winning position. Anyone can redo that sum.
Do I have to do anything if I win?
No. The boost hashrate starts mining for your address on its own, under the worker name "boost", and stops at the next draw.
Does the boost hashrate count for the next draw?
No. Shares from the "boost" worker are left out, so a winner stays in the next draw only through their own miner.
Is a payout guaranteed?
No. The boost adds hashrate, which raises your share of the pool rewards or your chance of a solo block, but blocks still come down to luck.
